Australia’s largest public museum organisation is seeking a Programs Officer to contribute to the development of and to deliver programs for a range of diverse audiences.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

Reporting to the Head of First Peoples department, this position is accountable for ensuring that program delivery engages Museums Victoria’s audiences and contributes to the audience experience.

The successful applicant will have:

  1. A sound understanding of and strong relationship with Victorian Koorie people and culture, and the ability to effectively liaise with broad sections of the Victorian Koorie community.
  2. Well-developed presentation skills including the ability to engage general and specific audiences in concepts relating to Indigenous cultures.
  3. Experience in the research, development and delivery of engaging programs for diverse audiences.
  4. Knowledge of First Peoples humanities/heritage or. science, and of museums.
  5. Awareness of education and learning techniques for diverse audiences and the ability to transfer this knowledge to a museum context.
  6. Good organisational skills and ability to work both with minimal supervision and as a team member.
  7. Demonstrated ability to manage own work and time effectively whilst working co-operatively in a team environment.
