Duties
As the Project Curator you will be responsible for:
- Leading research and content development for the Gallery of First Australians (GFA) redevelopment Stage 1, and any related public programs, publications, web content and other products;
- Collaborating with the internal project team, the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Program team and other major stakeholders to deliver the content for multimedia and associated elements for the new GFA Orientation Space;
- Working collaboratively with the Project Manager to develop work plans, manage budgets, coordinate contracts, and deliver core project management documentation and reporting;
- Preparing grant applications, managing expenditure and the acquittal of the grant monies;
- Respectfully engaging with relevant Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, representative bodies and/or individuals during all stages of the project to ensure that appropriate protocols and procedures are met;
- Using the Museum’s collection database (kEmu)) and digital asset management (Piction) systems to record project information and manage relevant workflows;
- Promoting and facilitating creative and collaborative engagement with internal and external stakeholders to achieve the best result for the project;
- Coordinating the management of intellectual property and copyright clearances for all project content, including working closely with Museum business units to ensure appropriate content management;
- Participating and synthesizing in all of the project workshops to ensure the content is appropriate and engaging for the Museum’s core audiences; and,
- Engaging with the contracted multimedia and design services team to ensure appropriate and timely transmission of project information.
As a Curator you will also be responsible for:
- Developing, researching and documenting the National Historical Collection and contributing to the development of collections policy and systems;
- Providing expertise relating to either social, political, Indigenous and/or environmental history;
- Ensuring the content needs of other business units throughout the Museum are serviced;
- Ensuring you have sufficient supervision, instruction and equipment to undertake your work safely and that employees in the team are provided with sufficient supervision, instruction and equipment to enable them to perform their duties safely.
