Sydney Living Museums cares for 11 of the NSW most important historic houses, museums and their collections: Elizabeth Bay House, Elizabeth Farm, Hyde Park Barracks Museum, Justice & Police Museum, Meroogal, The Mint, Museum of Sydney, Rose Seidler House, Rouse Hill House & Farm, Susannah Place Museum and Vaucluse House. All are listed in the NSW State Heritage Register. The Museum of Sydney and the Hyde Park Barracks on the National Heritage list and the Hyde Park Barracks is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
About the role
This role plan and schedule the delivery of an annual program of capital minor works and planned cyclical maintenance projects across Sydney Living Museums’ sites to ensure projects progress and are completed at expected levels while meeting relevant legislative and statutory requirements.

Essential requirements the role holder needs:
- Relevant qualifications and experience in project planning and delivery of minor capital works programs in areas relevant to, architecture, building or land management preferably in a heritage.
- Extensive experience successfully scheduling, planning and delivering minor works and major maintenance programs over a set period of time.
- Ability to work in complex and dynamic client/side relationship environments with stakeholders and interest groups covering government, community interest groups and environmental agencies.
- Experience in managing project budgets and scheduling works, including developing and delivering project plans.
- Ability to work within the framework of the Historic Houses Act 1980 and the NSW State Plan.
- Knowledge of current heritage conservation principles and practices in Australia, and knowledge of key legislation including the NSW Heritage Act 1977 and the Environmental Planning & Assessment Act 1979 and the Historic Houses Act 1980.
- Experience in delivering capital works projects in relation to listed historic buildings.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including writing for a variety of audiences.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to undertake and complete several tasks concurrently while maintain attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
- A current NSW driver’s licence.
