The Project Manager, Future Makers is a dynamic position for the Queensland Museum Network (QMN) created through an innovative partnering agreement between QMN and QGC, a natural gas company, owned by Shell, the world’s first producer of LNG from natural gas in coal seams. Through the partnership, QMN and QGC (the Partners) have created Future Makers, a holistic learning program focusing on improving the participation and performance of regional students in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM), and further supporting their learning journey through the delivery of community engagement events for families and the general public. The role is responsible for, leading and directing the successful delivery of the program in accordance with the provisions of the partnering agreement between QMN and QGC.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and manage the annual partnership work plan and budget, and lead a small team in the delivery of STEM education and engagement activities in Western Downs and Gladstone which are identified as milestones in the partnership agreement between QMN and QGC.
  • Manage the day-to-day operational relationship between QMN and QGC.
  • Lead and direct staff who are responsible for development and delivery of Future Makers elements such as communications, events, STEM education and lifelong learning activities.
  • Work closely with the QMN Marketing team to ensure the implementation of the partnership communication and engagement strategy is successfully implemented, communicating the partnership and outcomes to key stakeholders.
  • Building and maintain excellent working relationships with QMN staff to create appropriate opportunities for other QMN functional units to participate in the project activity.
  • Adopting and implementing QMN project management methodology, produce comprehensive project progress reports to the Steering Committee on a quarterly basis and coordinate secretariat duties for the Steering Committee to provide documentation of the meetings.
  • Provide bi-annual reports to QGC in relation to project delivery, budget expenditure and communication of the partners and partnership.
  • Contribute to and participate in any working parties associated with the partnership activities.
  • Provide direction to the implementation and delivery of Queensland activity relating to Inspiring Australia (IA), providing oversight and management of IA staff to ensure deliverables align to QMN strategy in a manner which reflects the IA contract.
  • Collaborate and nurture relationships with other external stakeholders relevant to the Future Makers program to grow support and recognition of the QMN as a provider of quality lifelong learning experiences in STEM.
  • Take all safety measures when performing duties to ensure the safety of yourself and others, and comply with QM’s workplace health and safety policies, procedures and Government legislation.
