Australia’s largest public museum organisation is seeking a Project Officer, Ian Potter Australian Wildlife BioBank to research and assist in a feasibility study on Cryobanking of endangered wildlife in Victoria and to register and manage tissues in the Ian Potter Australian Wildlife BioBank.

THE OPPORTUNITY:
This position is accountable for researching and assisting in the writing of a feasibility study on Cryobanking of wildlife in Victoria and to register and manage tissues for the tissue collection in the Ian Potter Australian Wildlife BioBank.
Working within the Sciences team, key duties of this role include:
- Research and collate information on cryobanking of live cells as an ex-situ conservation measure for wildlife in Victoria.
- Contribute and assist with organisation of workshop on cryobanking and site visits to cryobanking facilities.
- Assist with the day-to-day management of the BioBank tissue collection in consultation with the Manager of Genetic Resources.
- Sort and compile tissues and match them to records in the EMu database. Transfer tissues to cryotubes for inclusion into the BioBank.
- Physically and electronically register components of the BioBank collections, adhering to appropriate guidelines and procedures, including barcoding for location control.
