Sydney Living Museums cares for 11 of the NSW most important historic houses, museums and their collections: Elizabeth Bay House, Elizabeth Farm, Hyde Park Barracks Museum, Justice & Police Museum, Meroogal, The Mint, Museum of Sydney, Rose Seidler House, Rouse Hill House & Farm, Susannah Place Museum and Vaucluse House. All are listed in the NSW State Heritage Register. The Museum of Sydney and the Hyde Park Barracks on the National Heritage list and the Hyde Park Barracks is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
About the role
This role assist with the implementation and delivery of a range of minor capital works projects to achieve objectives identified in Sydney Living Museums’ corporate plan that meet statutory obligations under the Historic Houses Act 1980 and other relevant heritage legislation.
Job note: As a drivers’ licence is an essential requirement for this role you will be asked to provide a copy of your driving record if you are successful in proceeding to the interview stage.

Essential requirements the role holder needs:
- Relevant qualifications and experience in the delivery of construction, conservation or interpretation projects in a multi-disciplinary cultural, museum or heritage environment.
- Experience in the delivery of minor capital works in relation to historic buildings and sites.
- Experience in preparing technical and other project documentation including conservation studies, business plans, reports and professional correspondence.
- Ability to work within the boundaries of the Historic House Trust Act 1980 and the NSW State Plan.
- Knowledge of current heritage conservation principles and practices in Australia, and knowledge of key legislation including the NSW Heritage Act 1977 and the Environmental Planning & Assessment Act 1979 and the Historic Houses Act 1980.
- Experience in managing project budgets and scheduling works, staff resources and budgets, including developing and delivering project plans.
- Working knowledge of the main software applications used to develop projects, maintain and update information relating to project development and tracking.
- Excellent project management and organisation skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A current NSW driver’s licence.

- Outline a previous project or works program you have been responsible for in relation to scoping, design and delivery of completed projects. In your answer ensure you explain your involvement in the respective phases of the project.
- The role will require you to administer multiple minor works contracts and prepare progress reports, project plans, and submissions. Describe your experience with contract management and demonstrated high level writing skills.
