Museums Victoria is seeking a Project Officer to assist the project team in the development of a new Road Safety Education Complex at Melbourne Museum. The primary focus of the position is to develop and manage systems to support the project team in the efficient running of the project, including budget tracking spreadsheets, procurement processes and other project documentation. The position will be also be required to co-ordinate sub-projects and liaise with internal stakeholders so as to minimise business impacts on site caused by construction and exhibition fit-out activities.

ABOUT THE ROAD SAFTY EDUCATION COMPLEX:

The Victorian Government has made a commitment to develop and implement a package of educational and training initiatives to achieve further reductions in young driver crash rates and maintain Victoria’s leadership in youth road safety. The proposed Road Safety Education Complex is a key element of the package and will be aimed at extending, enhancing and engaging young people and the community in the prevention of road trauma, consistent with the Towards Zero approach. The Complex will provide a key opportunity to embed and extend this approach within the Victorian Community and become a global hub for road safety.

The Complex will be based within the Melbourne Museum in Carlton on the lower ground level.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

The primary accountability of this position is to support the project team by developing and managing systems across multiple streams of a major project to ensure its efficient administration including budget tracking spreadsheets, procurement processes and other project documentation.   In addition, the position will be required to co-ordinate sub-projects and liaise with internal stakeholders regarding the construction and re-fit schedule to minimise any impacts on business operations.  The position is required to prepare key pieces of communication about progress of the project and to collaborate with colleagues from the Transport Accident Commission (TAC).

Key Selection Criteria:

  1. Sound experience in managing, tracking and reporting of budgets.
  2. High level written and verbal communication and negotiation skills with the proven ability to clearly present information in an engaging and clear manner.
  3. Experience in project coordination including the ability to plan projects effectively and achieve desired outcomes.
  4. Advanced use in the use of spreadsheets, data bases and word processing including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
  5. Experience in juggling competing demands and working independently when required
  6. Experience engaging with sensitive cultural issues and stakeholders requiring a high level of skill in relationship management.
  7. The successful applicant is required to undergo, and for new employees meet the cost of, a National Police Records Check and be assessed as suitable (new employees are required to meet this cost).
