It’s an exciting time at Te Papa and we are currently undertaking a major renewal programme of our permanent exhibitions. Our Learning Innovation team has a newly established role for a fixed term Public Programmes Coordinator with a focus on art. The Learning Innovation team consists of specialists across museum education (formal learning programmes and products for early childhood, primary and secondary school audiences), public programmes (informal, life-long learning) and Hīnātore Learning Lab (innovative and experiential learning programmes for learners of all ages).

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team of people who are ambitious, hard-working, creative and fun. We are looking for an enthusiastic team player with exceptional organisational skills to support the Senior Advisor Public Programmes and the Public Programmes specialists with development and delivery of public programmes for the launch of our renewed Art Gallery, opening in February 2018. This role has a strong focus on operations and delivery.

To be successful in the role you will need strong relationship management skills and the ability to effectively liaise with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders (eg marketing, digital, contractors, photographers, performers). Strong organisational skills, excellent time management and the ability to maintain composure under pressure will be needed in providing a wide  range of support to ensure the development, promotion and delivery of innovative, inclusive and participatory programmes that are memorable, meaningful and meet identified targets. An understanding of art and/or museum and education practices and programmes is an advantage
