Public Programs and Education Manager, Immigration Museum

Museums Victoria is seeking an experienced professional Public Programs & Education Manager to manage the development and delivery of Immigration Museum programs for broad and specific audiences, and facilitate education and program partnerships that embody the Museums’ mission and business objectives.

ABOUT THE POSITION:
The position is accountable for leading and managing Immigration Museum Programs staff and associated learning programs and events, including related stakeholders and partnerships, innovation projects and achievement of business objectives. These programs and initiatives strengthen the Museum’s business objectives, enrich audience engagement and facilitate lifelong learning.

Key Selection Criteria:

  1. Demonstrated experience within the attractions, education or cultural sector (ie planning, developing, implementing and evaluating) creating innovative programs that meet the needs of diverse audiences and business goals.
  2. Extensive knowledge of learning theory and/or community engagement practice; experience of developing programs and resources that address curriculum needs and trends.
  3. Demonstrated project co-ordination skills including proven ability to lead change, set priorities, manage staff and resources and complete projects within required timeframes.
  4. Proven ability to engage stakeholders in a strategic manner and communicate within a complex environment with a broad range of individuals and groups. High level communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
  5. Knowledge of key Government initiatives relating to community engagement, creative industries, education, cultural tourism; and Galleries, Libraries Archives and Museums (GLAM) sector trends.
  6. The successful incumbent is required to obtain, and for new employees meet the cost of a Working with Children Check.
