Duties
Manage and deliver a publications program that includes the commissioning, editing, proofreading, design and production of the museum’s quarterly publication, Signals, in print and digital formats. The position is also responsible for proofreading and editing annual reports and strategic plans; brochures, occasional exhibition text or other print or online publications. In addition, the position needs to work with other teams to ensure that Signals enjoys a high profile and that sales of it are maximised.

The role makes a significant contribution to the ANMM’s vision to ‘be a world leader in maritime heritage’ and to its Mission ‘to lead the promotion and conservation of Australia’s maritime heritage and culture’ and ‘explore contemporary issues of public interest and maritime relevance’. It does so through professionally prepared reading materials tailored to their intended audiences, and by helping to disseminate museum content externally. These contribute significantly to 2015-19 Strategic Priorities I (Share the national maritime story across Australia), 2 (Be a must visit museum), 3 (Support and promote Indigenous maritime heritage) and 4 (Research, share knowledge and inspire). Contributes to 6 (Enhance our organisational excellence) through mentoring staff writers and contributing to knowledge sets in areas such as copyright. Key responsibilities include meeting the museum’s major statutory reporting and planning obligations under the ANMM Act 1991, by publishing the Annual Report and Corporate Plan.

Eligibility
This is an ongoing full-time position which is open to all Australian citizens. Applications may be accepted from Australian permanent residents who are in the process of acquiring Australian citizenship.

Selection for this position will be made on the basis of relative merit which will be assessed against each item of the selection criteria. Applications that do not address the selection criteria will not be considered for short listing by the Selection Committee. As part of the selection process the selection committee may invite candidates to undertake psychometric test, you should advise the selection committee if you have any special needs. Psychometric tests may be used as the initial short-listing test or later in the selection process. Some tests are very short while others may take one or more hours.
