This role will be responsible for planning and project managing the movement of selected collection objects from Ultimo into a new store at the Museums Discovery Centre at Castle Hill in association with other Strategic Collections Managers and curatorial staff. The role implements Museum policies, processes and procedures encompassing collection administration, stores and logistics, documentation, imaging and archives management.
Qualifications
The position requires a relevant degree or appropriate qualifications. Relevant post-graduate qualifications are also desirable.
Essential requirements
- Extensive knowledge and experience in museum collection management and documentation.
- Experience in the handling, packing, transport and storage of all types of museum objects, to professional museum level, and knowledge of national and international freight procedures
- Demonstrated ability to plan, schedule and manage projects, allied with excellent organisation skills and ability to motivate and manage staff.
- Knowledge and experience of collection information systems, barcoding and digital photography, including solution development and implementation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare high quality documentation and reports, and collaborate with team members and key stakeholders on complex projects in a multidisciplinary organisation.
