This position exists for the purpose of coordinating registration procedures on objects in the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery (QVMAG) collections, and maintaining the electronic database in liaison with other Collections and Research staff including other Section Registrar(s) and the QVMAG Museum Information Services and Technology Section. It is expected that there will be a higher proportion of duties within the Visual Art and Design collections.

Key functions of this position are:

  • Coordinating registration and documentation of QVMAG collections in the electronic collection management system.
  • Overseeing inward and outward loans, the storage and movement of collection objects and delivery of new acquisitions.
  • Periodically reviewing the registration system to maintain applicability, consistency, and operation.
  • Coordinating valuations of the collections, and complying with insurance requirements.
  • Conducting regular checks to ensure collections are correctly located and properly stored.
  • Contributing to inter-disciplinary curatorial projects as required.

This position works with other QVMAG staff to make a tangible and effective contribution to QVMAG planning, projects and activities.
