About the Role

The Research Assistant – Archaeology is part of a small but vital team that sits within the AMRI/Archaeology & Geoscience team. This is an ongoing part time role (14 hours per week).

The role increases the impact of science at the Australian Museum by undertaking technical work to support the Archaeologist in implementing innovative field and collection-based research in Australia and elsewhere.

The role supports archaeological fieldwork and research. Specifically, you will assist with the creation of new projects, obtaining compliance documents such as Aboriginal Heritage Impact Permits and completing internal Australian Museum compliance documents and assisting with the running of archaeological projects, including providing logistical support, and the creation of community-centred and academic outputs.

You will be paid a competitive annual salary $62,134 – $90,695, plus employer’s contribution to superannuation (11.0% from 1 July 2023) and annual leave loading.

The successful candidate will be interested in working as part of team seen as a leader in the cultural heritage space and motivated to work flexibly on exciting projects including expeditions to a variety of archaeological landscapes in NSW and beyond.
