Meredith Foley (CAMD Executive Officer), Research Engagement and Impact Review, 7 May 2016
In December 2015 as part of its National Innovation and Science Agenda (NISA) the Government announced the development of a national engagement and impact assessment to examine how universities are translating their research into economic, social and other benefits and incentivise greater collaboration between universities, industry and other end-users of research.
The Australian Research Council (ARC) and the Department of Education and Training are developing and implementing this assessment. It will run as a companion to Australia’s national evaluation of university research quality—Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA).
As part of the development of the assessment, the ARC is conducting a consultation to seek the views of stakeholders on the framework for developing the national assessment of the engagement and impact of university research. To assist stakeholders a consultation paper, which provides an overview of the Government’s policy rationale, parameters, and key issues regarding university research engagement and impact, has been released (see end of article).
Stakeholders are asked to provide their views on the questions listed in this document. Feedback should be provided by emailing the ARC at [email protected]. The due date for stakeholder feedback is 24 June 2016.
