Museums Victoria is seeking an experienced and talented Museums Victoria Retail Product Manager to lead the development of custom merchandise that references Museums Victoria’s permanent and temporary exhibitions to create more cohesion between our collections and multiple retail sites including Melbourne Museum, Immigration Museum, Scienceworks, and online.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

This position is accountable for merchandise development, planning, purchasing and monitoring inventory for the retail outlets at all Museums Victoria venues, ensuring that all plans adhere to Museums Victoria procedures and guidelines.

Key duties include:

  1. Lead a process to develop and implement an integrated stock buying strategy that supports the Retail budget for Museums Victoria that maximises revenue whilst delivering a high-quality visitor experience and building the Museums Victoria brand.
  2. Perform financial modelling, maintain accurate documentation, report product performance/ ROI and provide detailed analysis and adjust buying and replenishment strategy in line with real-time and projected visitation and sales data to ensure budgets are met and managed.
  3. Lead with and work collaboratively with a team to contribute to achieving custom product development deliverables. Ensuing product is commercially viable, suitable for visitation and sales projections and suitable for MV audience demographic. Ensure all Australian standards are adhered to.
  4. Develop and maintain a seasonally adjusted stock replenishment plan instore and online that optimises and manages stock quantity at all venues as well as supports promotional events. To ensure a markdown strategy is in place to reduce aged stock building in the business. Six monthly range reviews that refresh and assess the success of each item within the range.
  5. Oversee and approve all stock replenishment PO’s and markdowns to ensure optimal stock turnover and product ranges at all sites are evolving, dynamic and profitable. Achieving budgeted average gross profit margins.
