Duties

The Museum has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and dynamic professional to join the Public Engagement Division as the Retail Team Leader. This position contributes to the success of the Retail Team of the Commercial Operations and Tourism Business Unit.

The Museum Shop is open 364 days per year and requires a highly organised and efficient Retail Team Leader who works towards the delivery of a high quality visitor experience, meeting or exceeding performance targets. The occupant of this position must be available to be rostered over 7 days.

Responsibilities of this position includes the coordination, implementation and evaluation of sales strategies for the Museum Shop. The Retail Team Leader will be involved in developing and contributing to effective relationships and collaborating with key internal and external stakeholders.

As a member of a small team, the successful candidate will undertake a range of functions to meet performance and customer service standards. This includes the coordination and management of a part time and casual retail team with a proactive approach, ensuring the Museum Shop is performing consistently, and generating periodic sales and team reports. The Retail Team Leader is responsible for staff operations including, but not limited to, team rostering, management of leave, workplace performance conversations, recruiting and onboarding of casual staff, staff inductions, and Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) compliances.

The Retail Team Leader will manage relevant databases, reporting on shop performance, merchandising, shop window fit outs and coordination with inventory team. The Retail Team Leader is integral to the success of our dedicated exhibition shops during blockbuster periods.

Notes

This position works on a 7-day roster, the roster period for which is set at a minimum 3 months in advance and includes working weekends and public holidays. This position involves engagement with customers and the general public on a regular basis. This position also involves manual lifting, long periods of standing, pushing, pulling and activities required in moving stock.
