Rio Tinto Partners Scitech

Scitech and Rio Tinto recently celebrated a successful ten year partnership with the exciting announcement of a further $3.5M five-year partnership, featuring a new Rio Tinto Innovation Central exhibition space to open at the City West centre in 2014.

Since signing on to fund the Kids’ Science State initiative in 2003, Scitech’s partnership with Rio Tinto has resulted in over one million engagements with students, science lessons delivered in 85 percent of all Western Australian schools, and professional development workshops provided to over 26,400 teachers in the State.

Over the past ten years, Rio Tinto has played an integral role in developing an extensive suite of programs that have serviced schools across the state and these programs have given students, teachers and communities in regional and remote areas access to science, technology, engineering and maths.

The Rio Tinto Innovation Central will allow visitors to invent, build, create, and develop critical thinking and problem solving skills to encourage young people to pursue studies and careers that will help to secure Australia’s social, economic and environmental future.
