Arts South Australia online publication Our Cultural Collections.

Arts South Australia has updated its online publication Our Cultural Collections which brings together each of South Australia’s cultural heritage collections to promote and build awareness across the community of their significance.

These valuable collections are owned by the people of South Australia and held in trust for them by well-known public institutions – the Art Gallery of South Australia, Carrick Hill, History SA, Artlab Australia, the South Australian Museum and the State Library of South Australia.  It is appropriate that information about these collection strengths is available to anyone interested in the state’s cultural assets.

We are proud to have been able to bring the many aspects of these varied collections together in a single publication and welcome increased interest in the collections by South Australians and the rest of the world.

The scope of our internationally-significant collections is substantial – spanning geological samples to artefacts of great significance in the history of South Australia, internationally important art objects and everything in between. Every single object has its own story.

Our Cultural Collections seeks to highlight that the value of a single collection item or of a whole collection can be measured in many different ways. It aims to deepen the sense of worth this state has in its extraordinary cultural heritage assets.
