The Sovereign Hill Museums Association is a not-for profit community-based organisation that includes: Sovereign Hill Outdoor Museum, Sovereign Hill Hotel, AURA and Narmbool and soon to be opened Australian Centre for Rare Trades and Arts and the Australian Centre for Gold Rush Collections. It cares for a nationally and internationally significant collection of over 150,000 objects and protects the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of the Victorian gold rush.

We are an Australian tourism icon that attracts some 500,000 visitors annually. The Outdoor Museum is internationally renowned as a living museum featuring rare trades, and programs and experiences that interpret a pivotal point in Australia’s history. In all, some 350 staff work to bring our gold-rush story to life. They are supported by over 250 volunteers.

Sovereign Hill Education provides high-quality, well-researched and engaging education programs for tens of thousands of students and teachers every term in the outdoor museum and at Narmbool our environmental camp. Join us as we expand our team of School Bookings Officers – customer service specialists for the education market, internally and externally, providing high-level support in itinerary development for excursions and camps to deliver immersive, tailored and meaningful learning experiences for learners. Essential to the role is the ability to be organised, multi-task, have attention to detail, and self-manage within a team environment.

Tasks will include:

  • Supporting the Sovereign Hill Museums Association in the delivery of meaningful learning experiences in a range of settings.
  • The delivery of excellent customer service and maintaining effective relationships with school clients.
  • Independently managing the booking process across multiple systems, with a high level of accuracy.
  • Coordinate with other areas across the Sovereign Hill Museums Association to develop itineraries for visiting schools.

To be successful in the role, applicants should have:

  • Experience with or willingness to learn about the education sector
  • Experience in a sales and customer service role
  • Experience with customer relationship management software (Salesforce preferred) or the ability to quickly develop
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills with the proven ability to build rapport with customers
  • Demonstrated organisational skills including proven ability to multi-task and attention to detail
  • Capacity to work collaboratively and cooperatively with other internal teams
  • Experience in handling customer feedback and complaints and an agility and flexibility in problem solving
  • Excellent time management and experience managing/prioritizing multiple tasks
  • Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team/multiple teams
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills including the use of inventory management software, email, word processing & Excel
