The Australian Museum (AM) operates within the NSW Department of Planning and Environment and was founded in 1827 as the first museum in Australia. The AM provides access, engagement and scientific research to increase our understanding of natural history and culture, particularly of the Australasian region. The AM holds more than 18 million objects of biological, geological and cultural collections and develops programs, exhibitions and school and community education initiatives onsite, online and offsite. About the role
The Australian Museum has launched a national citizen science project that will reach into every corner of Australia. This position coordinates internal and external stakeholders in the development, implementation and evaluation of the project, to achieve project outcomes and support the achievement of Australian Museum objectives.
The AM supports a diverse workforce and promotes applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Essential Requirements
As the successful candidate, you will demonstrate;
- Ability to work with a range of stakeholders to plan, implement and manage complex events
- Experience with coordinating complex projects.
- Ability to communicate scientific information and ideas to a diverse audience.
- Ability to communicate to diverse audiences across a range of platforms including social media, blogging, AM website.
- Experience with and/or understanding of citizen science.
- Adequate knowledge and experience in order to deliver the Key Accountabilities and perform to the Focus Capabilities outlined in the Role Description.
