The Powerhouse Precinct at Parramatta is one of the largest cultural infrastructure projects currently being undertaken in Australia.? The project will transform and renew one of Australia’s oldest and most important cultural institutions and carry forward its legacy to reflect the changing needs of the contemporary communities of NSW. A key element of the project is the relocation and digitisation of the Museum collection.

The opportunity
As the Senior Conservator, Organic Materials, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating and scheduling the conservation treatments of organic materials including textiles, paper, photography and archives in preparation for their relocation.

Day to day, you will:

  • Plan, coordinate and supervise a conservation project team.
  • Perform complex conservation treatments on organic material objects in preparation for their relocation.
  • Collaborate with peers in Registration and Conservation to ensure the overall success of the relocation project.

The Successful Candidate
We are looking for a Paper, Textiles or Organic Materials Conservator who has Tertiary qualifications in Conservation or a related field, plus a minimum of 5 years conservation experience.

As you will be responsible for supervising a team of conservators, excellent communication, collaboration and planning skills will be essential to ensuring your success.
