The State collections held by Museums Victoria contain over 17 million items.

Millions of items in the State collections, developed over more than 160 years, are highly significant. However, in maintaining the quality of the State collections, some items have low significance, and can be deaccessioned.

Australia’s largest public museum organisation is seeking a Senior Coordinator, Collection Deaccession Program.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

The primary responsibility of the Senior Coordinator Collection Deaccession Program will be to manage and coordinate Museums Victoria’s upgraded collection deaccession program.

Notable skills and experiences:

  • extensive experience in curating and/or managing museum collections.
  • considerable experience in managing collection projects and processes.
  • considerable experience in researching and documenting collections.
  • excellent communication skills.

The successful applicant will have a strong engagement with the role and purpose of museum collections, and of their management.
