ACMI is Australia’s national museum of screen culture. Based in Melbourne/*Naarm, it is a place for our communities to navigate the universe of film, TV, video games and art with us. ACMI’s vibrant calendar of exhibitions, screenings, commissions, festivals, and industry and education programs – both in-venue and online – explore the stories, technologies and creators that make our shared screen culture.
Brilliant opportunity for you to join ACMI as a Senior Curator (full time ongoing role). The Senior Curator leads the research and conceptual development of exhibitions across ACMI’s platforms, including amplification of curatorial concepts in the Film and Public Programs. One of two Senior Curator positions at ACMI, you’ll work with the Executive Director of Programming to deliver an ambitious exhibition program. This includes ACMI developed major temporary exhibitions, new commissions and ACMI augmented incoming touring exhibitions. Leading a small team of Curators and Assistant Curators you’ll also provide expertise within ACMI to editors, content creators and subject matter experts.
Our ideal team member will have experience leading the development of major popular and technically sophisticated exhibitions that focus on contemporary digital media and screen culture (including but not limited to art, film, games and other digital content). You’ll have a proven track record in developing and delivering high quality visitor experiences of excellent curatorial rigour that achieve targeted audience outcomes. You are a strong researcher, with exhibition and design skills plus a broad and rich local and global network of creatives and content developers. An experienced leader you enjoy guiding teams to deliver memorable experiences for diverse audiences. A skilled relationship builder and stakeholder manager your organisational skills will see you confidently prioritise activities, manage competing demands and deadlines. Your passion and skill for generating ideas will flow through to the ability to facilitate them from concept to reality.

This Grade 5 role is offered on an ongoing full-time basis with a starting salary of $105,479 plus super. You’ll work a mix of WFH and from Federation Square, plus occasional national and international travel is required.
