An exciting opportunity has come up at the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences for a Senior Curator to play a key role in shaping and delivering exhibitions and programs with a particular focus on design and architecture.
Working at the world’s leading contemporary Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences, the Senior Curator will form part of the curatorial leadership team with responsibility for managing and delivering audience-focused and critically acclaimed exhibitions as well as a comprehensive design strategy.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record in developing design and architecture related events, programs and/or exhibitions and working as part of a multidisciplinary team. They will also be a well-respected member of the design community with extensive industry networks and a strong background in stakeholder engagement with national and international partners.
This role will suit a dynamic, confident individual with solid experience in curating or developing high quality exhibitions, events and programs that inspire and communicate to a range of audiences. The candidate will also be an excellent communicator, acting as an ambassador for design and architecture on behalf of the museum.

To be eligible to apply for this role you must meet these requirements:
- Relevant tertiary qualification or professional background in design and/or architecture combined with demonstrated experience developing exhibitions and/or programs and events as well as managing project teams.
- Proven record of initiating and delivering projects of excellence within a creative, original and insightful curatorial vision.
- Specialist knowledge in the following fields is essential: architecture & the built environment; design & applied arts and contemporary culture.
- High level written and oral communication skills; IT literate, analytical and decision making skills; project management and strategic planning skills.
- Demonstrated experience in initiating, developing and reviewing projects, exhibitions and programs engaging diverse audiences with MAAS themes, disciplines and collections.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively consult, contribute to a multidisciplinary team environment and collaborate to achieve goals according to shared expectations and agreed deliverables
- The successful applicant is required to undergo, and for new employees meet the cost of a National Police Records Check, and be assessed as suitable.
