The Sovereign Hill Museums Association is Australia’s leading independent museum organisation. Our purpose is to inspire an understanding of the significance of the central Victorian gold rushes in Australia’s national story.

We collect, conserve and interpret the mining, social, cultural and environmental heritage of the Ballarat region through our world-famous Sovereign Hill Outdoor Museum, the Gold Museum Ballarat, the sound-and-light show – Blood on the Southern Cross – and our historic pastoral property, Narmbool.

We are seeking an innovative and hands-on Senior Curator/Manager to join Sovereign Hill on a full-time basis. As Senior Curator, you will be responsible for leading a small team of professional staff to deliver a consistently high standard of collection management, care and development for Sovereign Hill’s 150,000 collection items.

As Manager Gold Museum, you will be responsible for managing the facilities, exhibitions, programs and daily operations of the Gold Museum to provide a high-quality visitor experience to more than 170,000 visitors per year.

We are seeking a museum professional with management experience who has an understanding of the role of regional museums. You will be a collaborative person who can work with partner organisations, a diverse range of colleagues and a dedicated band of volunteers.

If you are a researcher, a planner, a strategic thinker and a well-organised administrator, wishing to make your mark in a significant museum organisation, this could be the career opportunity you have been looking for.
