How you will contribute
The Museum is seeking a Senior Digital Developer within the Digital Studio team. The team works collaboratively with Museum staff to develop innovative online and in-gallery content and visitor experiences to drive engagement with the Museum’s collection, exhibitions and programs.
This role will work across all aspects of the Museum’s website and interactive development. He/she will be responsible for designing and developing online services and applications with a clear focus on audience needs. The ideal candidate will possess strong front-end web development skills and experience, the ability to develop information architecture and interface design, and will be an advocate for innovation in the application of technology within the Museum.
This role will:
- Serve as the front-end lead developer and technical expert in designing, developing, and maintaining innovative, dynamic, and complex online digital applications
- Be responsible for prototyping and delivering user-centered software solutions for search and discovery
- Be familiar with component based front-end architecture
- Develop connections between content management system (CMS), collections information system, application programming interfaces (APIs), and front-end applications
- Build and maintain the MAAS website and content publishing workflows to enable staff members to create, edit, and publish content to the website and other digital outlets.
- Serve as an expert on technical matters concerning web, mobile, and other software applications
- Advise on applications, systems and metadata and writing technical documentation and specifications.
- Undertake research and development on emerging technologies including AR/VR, AI and machine learning and their application within the Museum environment.
