Australia’s largest public museum organisation is seeking a Senior Lawyer and Risk Adviser to deliver high quality legal and risk management support within Museums Victoria, including in particular providing legal advice on a broad range of matters to ensure that managers and staff appropriately manage legal and other risks in planning, project management and delivery of organisational objectives.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

This position supports Museum Victoria’s Head of Legal and Risk in the delivery of legal and risk advisory services across Museums Victoria, including in particular advice and support in relation to:

Some notable skills and experience required:

  1. Significant experience (preferably at least 4 years post-admission experience) in providing authoritative, accurate and practical legal advice in relation to highly complex and time-sensitive matters, including in relation to the areas of law for which the role has duties or accountabilities such as commercial law, intellectual property, and collections management.
  2. Demonstrated ability to navigate complex issues, documentation, and areas of law to provide business areas with simple, plain English advice and guidance.

OTHER INFORMATION

This is a full-time, fixed-term position for 12 months (from October 2021 until October 2022), although flexible working arrangements will be considered. As a VPS 5 level position, the salary on offer is $98,396 per annum (Base of grade); paid pro-rata plus 9.5% superannuation.
