Housed in one of Australia’s most prominent national heritage-listed buildings, the Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House was the first museum in Australia dedicated to telling the story of the journey of our democracy. It seeks to provide a range of innovative exhibitions, tours, interpretation, education programs and public activities that will inspire and challenge visitors to explore democracy from its ancient roots to the present day and possible futures.
This position forms part of a small dynamic team working in a fast-paced environment that is responsible for the development and implementation of strategies to ensure the effective promotion and positioning of the Museum of Australian Democracy (MoAD), its partnerships, activities, and products.
The key duties of the position include:
- Proactive media contact and engagement including media monitoring and reporting
- Develop &, implement media strategies and materials to increase local and earned media across multiple museum business units
- Provide media briefings for senior staff in line with MoAD key messages
- Develop and implement communication plans
- Develop written content for corporate communication and promotional purposes
- Develop &, implement EDM strategy and increase e-news reach and engagement
- Support the Communications and Marketing team to deliver stakeholder events, including exhibition launches, which may include some out of hours work
- Manage marketing asset development, including graphic design and printing requirements
Highly Desirable
- Previous communications and marketing experience, preferably in the Public Service and/or Museums and Galleries or Tourism sector is highly desirable
- Experience with online communication products and tools, including CRMs, Campaign Monitor &, Media monitoring service
Eligibility
Employment with the Museum of Australian Democracy is subject to the following conditions:
- Citizenship – To be eligible for employment with MoAD, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
- Security Clearance – The successful applicant will be required to undergo and maintain a security clearance at the baseline level.
