Sovereign Hill is a dynamic group of museums presenting the mining, social, cultural and environmental heritage of the Ballarat region and its impact on Australia’s history.

The Operations department is responsible for the delivery of the interpretive and visitor programs throughout the Outdoor Museum (and on occasion supporting the Mining Museum and Coach operations); logistical support for functions and events; management of the general environment including general cleaning and waste management; and for the small animal care program. Our small animals include goats, sheep, donkeys, turkeys, hens, roosters, pigs and guinea fowl. At times we introduce additional breeds for particular programs and also breed chickens and hand rear young farm animals at times.

We are looking for a Small Animals Handler to work in our Outdoor Museum on a Full Time basis. In this role you will be responsible for ensuring the general wellbeing of all small animals, their feeding and the maintenance or reconstruction of their yards and housing. You will be required to participate in the planning and delivery of our school holiday programs or other programs involving small animals.

To be successful you must have:

Previous experience within a tourism or customer service environment and Certificate III in Animal Husbandry is desirable but not essential.
