Period of Appointment
Appointment to the role is on a fixed-term flexible basis (up to 73.5 hours per fortnight) for 12 months.
Duties
- Lead and coordinate the development and delivery of communication, marketing, and content strategies for the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery (TMAG).
- Provide high-level support and advice on organisational communication policies and other communication matters to enable TMAG to deliver strong and consistent messages that enhance public understanding of TMAG’s role and reputation.
- Lead and contribute to the development of marketing content including the coordination of workflow.
- Coordinate proactive and planned media engagement to help raise the profile of the organisation, its services, programs and initiatives including events and public relations.
- Develop and write communication plans, government briefs, media releases and public relations material that align with TMAG strategies.
- Coordinate, review and refine internal communication mechanisms to ensure effective and efficient communication between staff.
- Coordinate exhibition publications and materials including working with third-party suppliers and internal subject matter experts.
- Provide guidance and leadership to staff including the co-ordination and supervision of their duties and professional development opportunities.
- Coordinate the communications and marketing budget.
- Coordinate exhibition openings working with staff across TMAG.
- Undertake projects as identified by the Deputy Director as required.
Desirable Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant subject such as communication, media and marketing, or equivalent experience
- An awareness of the role museums and/or Art Galleries as interpretative, educational, research, scientific and curatorial institutions
- A current drivers licence
