The Powerhouse, through the renewal and across its platforms, will redefine museums in the 21st century by renegotiating the terms of engagement with communities, radically returning to and reckoning with its legacy as a museum of industry and fortifying its vital role in the cultural and economic ecosystems of NSW, Australia and the world. In 2023 the Powerhouse, one of Australia’s oldest and most important cultural institutions, continues the delivery of its renewal program across its five platforms, Powerhouse Parramatta, Powerhouse Ultimo, Powerhouse Castle Hill, Sydney Observatory and Powerhouse Digital our space to tell stories and provide new levels of access to the Powerhouse Collection of over 500,000 objects.
The Powerhouse Museum acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the lands where we work and live. We pay respect to Ancestors and Elders past, present and future. We recognise and learn from the strengths of the First Nations peoples of New South Wales and their continuing connection to, and unique cultural and spiritual relationship with Country.
We welcome and encourage applications from diverse backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, LGBTI+, people with disability, people with caring responsibilities, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, veterans and those living in regional locations.
