Museums Victoria is seeking an experienced and talented Senior Production Manager, Exhibition Production to provide leadership for the efficient and responsive production of temporary and long term exhibitions and special projects across Museums Victoria’s venues, to ensure projects are of high quality, within budget and resource capacity, and deliver an excellent visitor experience. The position is accountable for managing the detailed exhibition work program across multiple concurrent projects, and for providing production expertise and guidance to project teams, to ensure exhibition production is in accordance with best industry and project management practice.

Key duties include

  1. Develop integrated exhibition production schedules for multiple project delivery across all museums, with particular consideration to staff resourcing and capacity allocations, work assignments, timing of exhibition phases and delivery methods business case planning, and risk management.
  2. Provide leadership and support to multiple exhibition project teams, through stages of project development and delivery, including budget scoping, prototyping and testing, fabrication, procurement, and contract management, install and deinstall planning, and operational delivery.
  3. Undertake specific research and evaluation and provide advice and support to project teams on material choices, production options, supplier and specialist services, evaluation, testing and analysis, accessibility, building code compliances and operational implications.
  4. Conduct broader research and develop evidence-based proposals and reports to support decision-making on exhibition production costs and methodologies.
  5. Work closely with the senior exhibition management team to shape and deliver the exhibition program, contribute to strategic and business planning objectives for the department and the division, and represent Museums Victoria in relevant internal and external forums.
