Duties
The Social Media Coordinator position is an ongoing APS 6. Reporting to the Manager, Digital, this position is responsible for social media planning and scheduling and the daily management of the National Museum of Australia’s social media accounts. The Museum has an active presence on a range of social media channels, however, currently the key social media channels for the Museum are Facebook and Twitter.
The occupant of this position will be required to liaise and work with the broader Digital team, the Public Affairs Manager and other colleagues across the Museum to: plan, develop and schedule new content and social media campaigns; respond to comments made on social media; monitor and report across the Museum’s social media channels; integrate social media into broader marketing activities; and develop and manage the training of nominated social media representatives.
Specifically, the role is responsible for:
- Refining and evolving the ‘whole of Museum’ social media strategy and specific campaign strategies.
- Developing, implementing and managing social media campaigns for the whole of Museum, including: temporary exhibitions, permanent galleries, public programs and events.
- Sourcing, writing and publishing content for social media channels.
- Developing and implementing paid social media campaigns that grow and engage the Museum’s social media audience.
- Developing social media plans and schedules and acting as the main point of contact for social media suggestions from stakeholders, including coordinating monthly meetings with social media representatives across the Museum.
- Using social media analytics, monitoring and reporting to measure the effectiveness of social media campaigns and to inform future campaigns.
- Following social media trends in order to embrace new developments and opportunities.
- Providing training for nominated social media representatives across the Museum to develop skills in using approved social media channels.
- Monitoring social media and coordinating Museum responses.
- Managing and negotiating opportunities with key internal and external stakeholders and partners.
- Managing the social media budget.
- Managing projects which have a social media focus.
- Having capacity and availability to work outside standard business hours, to monitor social media as required.

Notes
The salary range will increase by 3% when the new Enterprise Agreement 2017-2020 is approved by the Fair Work Commission and comes into effect.
