Help embed Te Ao Māori at the new Canterbury Museum
Ōtautahi has changed in the last 10 years and now it’s our turn. Come and join us on the journey.

We’re embarking on a bold redevelopment project and need people experienced in Te Ao Māori, tikanga Māori and taonga Māori to help us tell the stories of Waitaha.

We are looking for people across a range of spaces: curatorship (natural and social history), exhibition design, education, public programmes, community outreach, visitor hosting and operations. We need people with resilience, a love for taonga, a respect for people, a commitment to excellence and the day-to-day ability to navigate complex relationships and community aspirations, and to translate them into tangible change inside the Museum.

A proven connection with iwi, hapū and maata waka communities is important. Some roles do need particular skills, but we can talk you through that. If you have ever thought about exploring opportunities at the Museum, now is the time to ask.

Help us better reflect our communities and our future.

Please email us a brief expression of interest and your contact details by 26 September 2021 to [email protected] and our team will be in touch to start a kōrero.
