We are now recruiting multiple positions for the role of Team Leader Registration for different functions (Packing, Logistics and Storage).
These roles will assist the Collection Storage and Logistics Manager in the planning, coordination and implementation of a range of collection packing and housing activities as part of the Collection Relocation and Digitisation Project.
Key highlights of the role:
- Actively participate in, coordinate, and supervise the day-to-day handling, housing, packing and unpacking activities of the Collection Relocation and Digitisation Project involving different types of collection material within and between MAAS sites.
- Assist in the development and implementation of procedures through the induction and ongoing training of safe handling, packing, housing and moving collection material to ensure accurate location tracking, appropriate compliance, health and safety, risk management and collection preservation standards are upheld.
- Manage team performance and provide regular progress reports to the Collection Storage and Logistics Manager, identifying any issues, risk, time, cost or quality criteria as it relates to the packing, housing and moving teams and their tasks within the Collection Relocation and Digitisation Project milestones.
- Manage the supply and routine maintenance of handling, packing and housing materials, equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) ensuring these resources are used in a timely, appropriate and safe manner.
An ideal candidate will have following skills and experience:
- Demonstrated experience in and expert knowledge of the techniques and safe procedures for handling, packing/unpacking, housing, transporting and storing different types of collection material.
- Demonstrated skills and proven experience in team leadership that fosters a cooperative and collegiate approach to deliver logistically complex tasks and an ability to motivate staff during times of repetitive tasks.
- Demonstrated experience in and sound knowledge of the principles and practices of Manual Handling, Work Health & Safety and Risk Management within museum and cultural collections.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including highly-developed written and verbal skills and the ability to collaborate with project stakeholders to lead teams through their tasks, providing advice and technical knowledge within the scope of the Collection Relocation and Digitisation Project.
- Well-developed organisational and time management skills and proven ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously, meet strict deadlines and competing priorities within a logistically complex project environment.
- Appropriate administrative experience and computer literacy skills including the ability to competently operate business software (eg. MS Office) and collection management systems (eg. kEMu) with an accurate focus on location tracking.
- Proven ability to contribute to the development of policies and procedures for handling, packing/unpacking, moving and storing different types of cultural collection material.
