About the Role
To increase the impact of scientific and cultural collections of the Australian Museum by undertaking a major move of the Australian Museum Entomology collection. These positions will work closely with collection staff, barcoding staff, and the EMu team, under the direction of the relevant Collection Manager.
Essential requirements
- At minimum, TAFE qualifications in relevant field, or equivalent experience in working with natural science collections and/or cultural collections.
Knowledge and Experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of discipline relevant nomenclature and classification procedures and experience in identification, taxonomy and or systematics in one of the identified disciplines.
- Demonstrated basic capacity to support the team in the maintenance and curation of the collection including the ability to handle fragile specimens/objects and labels and experience in, or willingness to handle chemicals, including ethanol and formalin according to WH&S procedures.
- Demonstrated basic knowledge and understanding of the application of Work Health and Safety (WH&S) legislation and regulations.
- Adequate knowledge and experience in order to deliver the Key Accountabilities and perform to the Focus Capabilities outlined in the relevant Role Description.
