The AM provides access, engagement and scientific research to increase our understanding of natural history and culture, particularly of the Australasian region. Primary purpose of the role
To increase the impact of scientific and cultural collections of the Australian Museum by undertaking technical work supporting the 3D digitisation of Australian Museum collections. This position will work closely with other digitising staff, collection staff, barcoding staff, and the EMu and DigiVol teams, under the direction of the relevant Collection Manager.
Essential requirements
- At minimum, TAFE qualifications in relevant field, or equivalent experience in working with natural science collections and/or cultural collections.
- Demonstrated abilities in undertaking the 3D digitization of objects and knowledge of 3D scanning technologies, including photogrammetry and laser scanning.
- Demonstrated basic capacity to support the team in the maintenance and curation of the collection including the ability to handle fragile specimens/objects and labels and experience in, or willingness to handle chemicals, including ethanol and formalin according to WH&S procedures.
- Demonstrated basic knowledge and understanding of the application of Work Health and Safety (WH&S) legislation and regulations.
- Adequate knowledge and experience in order to deliver the Key Accountabilities and perform to the Focus Capabilities outlined in the relevant Role Description.
