Sovereign Hill is a dynamic group of museums presenting the mining, social, cultural and environmental heritage of the Ballarat region and its impact on Australia’s history.
The Engineering Division is responsible for asset management across the Sovereign Hill Museums Association including infrastructure, building construction and maintenance, plant, audio visual infrastructure, and gardens.
The Technical Services team is responsible for all the technical aspects of the AURA show, Quartz Mine, Secret Chamber, Trapped, Red Hill Mine, Woah Hawp canton, Chinese Village, and Bright Visions displays. The team ensures all displays are maintained and operated correctly to internal standards. Other areas of responsibility include all site electrical services and supplies, testing and tagging of portable appliances and fire detection alarm systems.
The Technical Services Manager is responsible for managing the organisations technical support for the AURA show, Quartz Mine, Secret Chamber, Trapped, Red Hill Mine, Woah Hawp canton, Chinese Village and Bight Visions displays, ensuring all displays are operating correctly to internal standards. This includes all electrical switchboards and general light and power to all areas of the museum, testing and tagging of all portable electrical appliances, and maintenance of fire detection alarm systems.
TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE WE ARE LOOKING FOR INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE:
- Qualified ‘A Grade’ electrical licence
- Experience in staff management within building/construction and/or manufacturing environments
- Effective time management skills
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate and manage projects
- A good understanding or be willing to undertake training in hydraulic control systems, HVAC systems, Computer Networking, Audio, Visual and data cabling, Brightsign video playback equipment, Gas control systems
- Advanced computer skills
- Excellent fault finding skills and accurate reporting skills
- Experience in PLC’s
- Good practical knowledge of commercial audio equipment and associated sound equipment
- Ability and willingness to work after hours, weekends, public holidays and be included in the on-call roster as and when required
- Experience in electronics is preferred but not essential.
