The Australian National Maritime Museum maintains a register of individuals interested in short-term temporary employment (non-ongoing of less than 18 months). The register enables the Australian National Maritime Museum to access individuals to fill temporary roles at short notice at our museum location in Pyrmont. The positions may be full-time, part-time or casual. Casual positions are intermittent with hours and working days varying with business requirements.

Non-ongoing opportunities will be offered for varying periods and contracts will be based on operational demands, may be at the APS 2 to EL 2 levels depending on the duties available. Non-ongoing opportunity will be offered for a specified term. Opportunities will be offered for varying periods up to 18 months with a possibility of extension to a maximum of three years.

Eligibility

Who is eligible to apply?

To be eligible for temporary (non-ongoing) employment at the Australian National Maritime Museum, applicants should:
• Hold Australian citizenship or have the legal right to work in Australia;
• Be willing to undergo al Police records check;
• Be willing to undergo a health check if required;
• Be willing to provide two references from previous employers.

Notes

How long will the application remain on the register?

The temporary employment register is refreshed in 12 months every year to ensure the most current information is available. When the register is about to close, everyone with a current registration will receive an email from our HR team inviting you to reapply.

If all of your information is still current and accurate, you can simply apply for the new register and submit your application—you do not need to go through the whole process again.
