Auckland War Memorial Museum: Connecting through sharing stories of people, lands and seas

Tāmaki Paenga Hira Auckland Museum is a much-loved culture and heritage organisation at the heart of Auckland’s identity, committed to outstanding management of its world-class collections and the employees and volunteers who tell the Museum’s stories. The successful applicant will be recognised as someone who builds strong and successful teams, thrives on collaboration, lives kaitiakitanga and manaakitanga, and respects and values mana whenua. The purpose of this full-time permanent role is to ensure the successful implementation of the Museum’s Treaty of Waitangi responsibilities as set out in the Auckland War Memorial Museum Act 1996 and the aspirations of the Museum’s He Korahi Māori and Teu Le Vā strategies. Primarily, success will be achieved through guiding and advising the Chief Executive, and the Executive Team, on policy, strategic relationships, staff capability and specific Māori and Pacific projects.

The Tumuaki works to strengthen He Korahi Māori and Teu Le Vā within the Museum and to enrich linkages with community leaders to build confidence in the effectiveness of the Museum as an engaging and collaborative partner with Māori and Pacific communities.
