Position Description
This role will develop and manage a venue and events strategy across the Queensland Museum Network. You will be responsible for leading major events across the Museum associated with exhibitions, programming, fundraising and sponsorships. You will work collaboratively with front of house staff, external relations, foundation, commercial operations and our in-house service provider of hospitality to deliver memorable events and visitor experiences. You will also be responsible for managing the museum’s commercial venue hire. You will be highly organised, have exceptional attention to detail as well as interpersonal skills. You will have exceptional customer service standards and previous experience in a similar role.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop a venue and events business stream for the Queensland Museum Network
  • Manage Queensland Museum events, functions and venue hire and logistics associated with these activities
  • Contribute to the management of the Public Engagement program ensuring events are high quality, on budget and delivered on time to meet business and revenue and expenditure targets.
  • Drive the delivery of the Queensland Museum’s venue and events business strategy ensuring that commercial targets and business development goals are met and risks are identified and effectively managed.
  • Ensure all commercial operations contribute to an excellent visitor experience through the provision of high quality customer service.
  • Deliver effective financial and budget management, including forecasting, reporting, cost control, analysis of monthly, quarterly and annual targets and ensure that forecasts are accurate and achieved.
  • Manage business planning processes including commercial modelling, and documentation for new and existing business.
  • Manage business relationships with contractors in relation to venue and events business and be knowledgeable about Queensland acts and regulations regarding events and hospitality.
  • Manage casual staff engaged for events.
  • Ensure QMN workplace health and safety system requirements are accounted for in the development of your particular function strategies while taking all safety measures when performing duties. Undertake all relevant responsibilities identified in the QMN WHS Accountabilities and Responsibilities Matrix.
