A unique institution at the heart of Melbourne’s iconic meeting place, Federation Square, the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) is Australia’s national museum of film, TV, videogames, digital culture and art. Welcoming over 1.45m visitors in 2015/16, ACMI is the most visited museum of the moving image in the world and the third most visited museum in Australia.
In the 2017-18 Victorian Government Budget, ACMI received $5million for the first stage of its redevelopment. In addition to developing designs for a major physical and technological overhaul of the Federation Square attraction, this funding will allow ACMI to further improve the current Flinders Street Entrance.

The role will initially focus on the design and build of a technical architecture able to best serve a range of different interactive outputs, while working in conjunction with external stakeholders, the CTO will research, design, and prototype middleware (and APIs) to best realize exhibition design goals. Drawing on experience in delivering museum-scale projects they will work closely on the co-design and concept work with design and technology firms of interactive experiences and, through a deep understanding of the current potential of media technologies also contribute to the overall curatorial vision as it develops.
You will join ACMI, bringing with you exceptional technical skills including programming and software development coupled with an extensive commercial background in developing scalable applications and international track record in the integration of technology and interactive media into the exhibition experience.
