Job Description

The primary purpose of the Visitor Experience Manager is to lead the operational development and delivery of an outstanding visitor experience for the Auckland War Memorial Museum.  This role is a key member of the Visitor Services Management team and reports to the Head of Visitor Services. The incumbent brings customer service and operational expertise to oversee the innovative, engaging, and relevant delivery of visitor experience by Visitor Services staff and customer-facing Volunteers. They are champions of the Museum as a world-class visitor experience, leading the Visitor Services team to deliver business priorities and improvement projects.

They are responsible for the operational delivery of services that supports and enhance employee and visitor experience across the Museum.

This role is responsible for leading a large team to deliver daily operations, oversee the safety and security of all visitors, and manage financial processes along with all internal and external customers to meet the business requirements.

Desired Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A Tertiary degree in education, customer experience, HR, Museum studies or related specialty
  • Knowledge of customer experience best practice
  • Demonstrable leadership experience in the customer experience, HR, events or GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums) sector, preferably with Museum experience.
