Position Details

ACMI is the national museum of film, television, videogames, digital culture and art. Exploring the rapid evolution and astonishing creativity of the moving image, ACMI is the most successful museum of its kind in the world attracting 1.5 million visitors each year to its Federation Square site, and 450,000 to its national and international touring programs.

The museum is currently closed, as we deliver a visionary $40m redevelopment that will transform the institution, overhauling our permanent exhibition. ACMI’s Federation Square site is planned for re-launch in mid-2020.

When ACMI reopens in 2020, the Visitor Experience team (approximately 80 paid staff members, plus volunteers) will embody the ACMI brand to provide an unforgettable experience for our visitors.  Reporting to the People & Operations Manager, you will become a part of a team of four Visitor Experience Supervisors, primarily responsible for the performance of the VX team – supporting and supervising staff and volunteers, delivering briefings and training sessions, and providing coaching and performance management.

Adept at the end-to-end management of operations within a museum/gallery context, Visitor Experience Supervisors provide on-the-floor guidance to the VX team, helping to problem solve visitor and staff issues, whilst managing operational service delivery to ensure an exceptional visitor experience.

This role calls for the demonstrated ability to effectively supervise and motivate a team in a complex and busy customer context. You will have an extensive background managing on-the-floor operations at a public venue, with the ability to manage anything that crops up at a venue of this kind. You will play a critical role as an advocate for embedding a visitor-first approach across the organisation.

This ongoing Grade 3.2 role is offered on a part time 0.8 (4 days per week) basis with commencing salary of $77,737 plus super.  You will be required to work a rotating roster that includes nights and weekends.  A current Victorian Working with Children Check is required prior to commencement.

To apply, follow the online application process on our website. Applicants should provide a 500-word response and a brief resume, demonstrating their ability to meet the requirements of the role outlined within the position description.

Applications close: Sunday 5 January 2020 at 11:59 pm

Please note interviews will be held in the week starting 13 January 2020
