Sydney Living Museums cares for 11 of the NSW most important historic houses, museums and their collections: Elizabeth Bay House, Elizabeth Farm, Hyde Park Barracks Museum, Justice & Police Museum, Meroogal, The Mint, Museum of Sydney, Rose Seidler House, Rouse Hill House & Farm, Susannah Place Museum and Vaucluse House. All are listed in the NSW State Heritage Register. The Museum of Sydney and the Hyde Park Barracks on the National Heritage list and the Hyde Park Barracks is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

  1. As a Visitor & Interpretation Officer you will be delivering customer service at the front line of various museums. Please outline your experience in dealing with awkward customers; how did you use your skills to defuse the situation? Also provide an example where you have consulted a colleague or peer in order to provide a higher level of customer service.
  2. The role of the Visitor & Interpretation Officer contains a diverse nature of work from guiding, Front of House and retail duties, presentation and house cleaning and even assisting staff to ensure small livestock (chickens) are returned to the coop and secured for the evening. Often this is required without a supervisor or manager on-site to provide direction. With this in mind, please outline your excellent skills in teamwork and task management by providing an example of how you have worked within a team to prioritise a diverse range of tasks and complete them successfully.
