The Australian Museum is the first museum in Australia; founded in 1827 its mission is to inspire exploration, understanding and care for our world
We have casual roles at an entry level to work in Museum’s exhibition spaces with our visitors, to assist them in gaining an enjoyable experience and a deeper level of understanding of the museum content. The two roles are outlined below.
- Kidspace Exhibition: a mini museum for under five year olds to explore the natural world. In working in this interactive exhibition you be assisting children and their carers to explore natural history themes. This role would suit students or graduates with Pre-school Education experience. Staff will deliver age appropriate programs to the young audience.
- Search and Discover: the museum’s hub for the public’s scientific and indigenous cultural enquiries and an educational hands-on facility. Staff will require a general knowledge in natural history and biology and an ability to communicate that to the museum’s broad audience. Staff will require an aptitude to work with live animals.
What are we looking for:
- Understanding of how to translate scientific and cultural content for visitors of all ages and backgrounds
- Willingness to work on weekends, public holidays and occasional evenings
- Immediate availability
- You will need to hold a current Working with Children Check
