Opening in November 2020, the stunning new Western Australian Museum will share the stories of our people and places. It will be a gateway for visitors to explore the wonders of Western Australia, from the Kimberley to the Great Southern, and all the places in between. The Museum has been created with a ‘people-first approach’, which means it will feature Western Australians from all walks of life, sharing their stories in their own voices. It will be a world-class museum at the heart of its community. And, as a Visitor Services Officer, you will be central to every visitor’s journey, helping to create dynamic experiences and lasting memories.

The Western Australian Museum is a vibrant centre of inspiration, learning and enjoyment for everyone. It preserves, documents and shares collections relating to the State’s natural and cultural heritage. It collaborates with people across Western Australia to share the stories and voices of diverse communities. It works alongside national and international organisations, contributing to global research, promoting life-long learning, and developing and hosting world-class exhibitions.

Conditions

There are currently up to 30 full-time or part-time positions available, working a minimum of 15.2 hours per week, plus a number of casual positions. The Visitor Service Officers are scheduled on a 7-day roster including weekends and most public holidays, working between the hours of 8:30am – 5:30pm. Full-time applicants must be available to be rostered during these hours and days.

The positions commence from September 2020. Successful applicants must be available to commence an 8-week training program at this time.

While this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancies, applicants for this position may be considered for similar vacancies within the Western Australian Museum and/or the wider public sector if those positions arise within a reasonable period of time. Future positions may be filled from this recruitment process for the next 24 months.

Successful applicants will be required to provide a current (within 6 months) National Police Clearance Certificate. Additionally, a Working With Children Clearance will be required before beginning employment.

These positions are located in the world-class new Western Australian Museum in the Perth Cultural Centre, Perth.
