The Western Australian Museum is positioning itself through scientific and academic excellence, public programs and relevant exhibitions to keep pace with the rapidly changing face of Western Australia. The Museum has made a major contribution to the collection, conservation and research of the State’s natural and social history, maritime heritage and the cultural heritage of Indigenous communities in Western Australia.
The Western Australian Museum is part of the Culture and Arts Portfolio, brought together by the Department of Culture and the Arts (DCA). DCA is the State Government agency responsible for the Government’s support of management and development of arts and culture in Western Australia.
Conditions
There are two (2) part time (0.53 FTE), fixed term vacancies, both for a period of 11 months, with a possibility of extension and/or permanency. There will also be a Pool running for a period of 11 months from the initial appointment. Applicants deemed suitable will be placed into a pool from which full-time, part-time, casual, fixed term or permanent appointments may be made.
A current (within 6 months) National Police Clearance Certificate will be required prior to commencement of employment, as per the Department of Culture and the Arts Police Record Screening Policy.
Job Description
The position’s primary purpose is to enhance the WA Museum’s public profile through the delivery of high quality customer service and positive interaction with the public. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
- Maintain a high standard of both personal presentation and within the museum precinct, including but not limited to reception, cleaning of public areas and reporting maintenance issues.
- Capture visitor feedback, both positive and negative, to assist in improving products and services for visitors.
- Ensure the security of the museum precinct, artefacts, objects and displays by patrolling the museum and monitoring security systems.
- Operate in a flexible and accommodating way and show initiative having regard for the overall needs of the team and the museum.
