The Sovereign Hill Museums Association is a not-for profit community-based organisation that advocates for adaption and change by bringing the people of the goldfields to life to ensure Victoria’s vibrant goldrush heritage and the story of its impact on our nation, inspires future generations.

The Coachbuilding/Wheelwrights team builds and maintains all of Sovereign Hill’s horse-drawn vehicles and harness, and restores and manufactures period pieces for the museum and external customers.

We are seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a Part Time Wheelwright/Coachbuilder Demonstrator. If you have a passion for history and rare trades, this role could be for you!

To be successful must have:

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal communications skills
  • Demonstrated awareness of OHS requirements when using tooling and machinery
  • Ability to work across flexible rosters including weekends, public holidays and school holidays

Preferred Skills:

  • Presenting, public speaking and/or interpreting experience is preferred but not essential
  • Previous experience within a tourism or customer service environment would be highly regarded
  • Experience in furniture making and/or woodworking and/or metalwork is preferred

Checks and Qualifications:

  • Police Check
  • Employee Working with Children Check
  • Covid Vaccinated
  • Pre-employment medical
  • Completion of a pre-Apprenticeship course or Certificate II in Metal Fabrication, Furniture Making, Carpentry or Joinery would be desirable but not essential
