Under limited direction, the Work Health and Safety Support Officer plays an important administrative role in supporting the Memorial’s work, health and safety and early intervention and injury management programs. The role reports directly to the Work Health and Safety Manager and under the broad guidance of the Head, Human Resources.   The role is committed to working collaboratively with Memorial staff and business areas, cultivating a safety risk management culture and working independently and flexibly.

Core Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain WHS and workers compensation documentation, reports, registers, minutes of meetings and intranet pages.
  • Maintain accident and incident report database, analyse data to identify trends and improvements and provide reports as required.
  • Provide advice for case management and early intervention strategies for workers’ compensation and non-compensation cases, rehabilitation and return to work matters.
  • Provide WHS Committee secretariat and coordinate internal support networks for first aid, health and safety representative and workplace harassment contact officers.
  • Coordinate EAP contract management including performance reporting quarterly.
  • Manage WHS expenditure and reporting in line with Commonwealth government financial management protocols.
  • Support risk assessments and risk management activities, general hazard inspections and investigation processes.
  • Contribute to the identification and implementation of WHS improvement initiatives.

This vacancy may be filled on a 3 year non-ongoing basis. Should the position become ongoing within 12 months of this notice, this selection process may be used to fill the vacancy on an ongoing basis.
